Dr. Anna Posacka is an expert in plastic pollution, ocean health, and sustainable innovation. Her work has contributed to national and international strategies to address microplastics and plastic waste, with a particular focus on textiles, ocean monitoring, and upstream solutions.

Anna has led high-impact research, including a recent government-funded report that contributed to Canada’s emerging strategy on textile plastic waste. She has also advised on the science and risk assessments related to microplastics and supported policy development at various levels. As Chief Scientist at Ocean Diagnostics Inc, she established a cutting-edge laboratory and helped bring plastic pollution monitoring technologies to market. At Ocean Wise, she also directed research with leading apparel brands and government agencies to reduce microfibre pollution and advance sustainable product design and industry practices.

Through her consultancy, Ocean Positive Solutions Ltd., Anna supports innovators, businesses, governments, and NGOs in advancing science-based sustainability strategies with ocean health in mind. Her work integrates circular economy principles, policy intelligence, and technical insight—helping organizations navigate complexity and align innovation with credible environmental goals.

Anna also brings deep experience in public engagement and science communication. She has developed educational toolkits, contributed to national awareness campaigns, and served as scientific advisor for Creatures of Convenience, a CBC documentary exploring plastic pollution.

Anna has worked with diverse organizations including National Research Council of Canada, Environment and Climate Change, Canada, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, MetroVancouver, Patagonia, Arc’teryx, REI, MEC, Raincoast Conservation Foundation and a range of national and international NGOs.

She holds a PhD in Oceanography from the University of British Columbia and an MSc in Applied Marine Sciences from Plymouth University (UK), and is based in British Columbia, Canada.
